Laborde Marine operates a fleet of the industry’s most dependable and modern offshore support vessels along with highly qualified crews to assist our customers in oil and gas exploration and production. Laborde Marine’s current fleet of 22 vessels, consisting of crew boats and supply boats, is suited to support all offshore operations including exploration, drilling and production support, construction support, seismic survey platforms and support, as well as many other aspects of offshore marine support.

With corporate headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana, Laborde Marine’s operations office, located in Morgan City, Louisiana, provides direct supervision and full support of all vessel operations. Sales staff in New Orleans, Morgan City and Lafayette, Louisiana provide a direct, personal contact to all of Laborde Marine’s clients as well as develop future opportunities.

Our History

Laborde Marine was founded in 1995 by J. Peter Laborde, Jr., who gained 15 years of in-depth experience at Tidewater, specializing in regional marine marketing, supply vessel management, and fleet operations.

In 2007, Peter’s brother, Cliffe Laborde, joined the company, bringing an additional 15 years of industry experience from various executive roles at Tidewater, including General Counsel and Secretary.

Under the Laborde brothers’ leadership, Laborde Marine has grown to a fleet of 28 vessels serving the Gulf of Mexico and Brazil. Leveraging their extensive expertise, they have assembled a highly qualified team of professionals. The company is committed to expanding its fleet conservatively while providing safe, exceptional service to customers worldwide.

The Beginning

Laborde Marine is founded by J. Peter Laborde, Jr.

1997

Business Evolution

Peter Laborde negotiates the sale of six vessels to Trico Marine.

1998

A Growth Phase

  • Laborde Marine purchases two liftboats.
  • Laborde Marine begins construction of two 210’ DP PSVs – the M/V John Lab and M/V Red Lab.
  • Laborde Marine constructs a 175′ liftboat.
  • Laborde Marine acquires a 191’ supply vessel.

2001

International Endeavor

  • Laborde Marine enters the international market by purchasing three OSV’s from Trico in Brazil.
  • Laborde Marine opens offices in Rio de Janeiro and Macae, Brazil.
  • Laborde Marine enters the crewboat market by purchasing four crewboats.
  • Laborde Marine constructs a 200′ liftboat.

2002-2005

Vessel Acquisitions

Laborde Marine acquires nine 162’ crew boats/fast supply vessels.

2005

New Construction

Laborde Marine begins construction on a 175′ liftboat.

2006

Inventory Changes

Laborde Marine negotiates the sale of five liftboats to Hercules Offshore.

2007

Family Strong

Cliffe Laborde joins the company after 15 years at Tidewater.

2008

Strategic Relationship

Laborde Marine enters into a construction contract with Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. to construct three “280” class platform supply vessels.

2009

Deepwater Vessels

Laborde Marine takes delivery of the M/V Jeanne Pierre Lab and M/V Genie Lab, 260′, DP-s high specification, deepwater PSVs.

2010

Deepwater Expansion

Laborde Marine takes delivery of the M/V Hilda Lab, the third of the 260′ deepwater PSVs.

2012

Growing Fleet

Laborde Marine takes delivery of a 172′ and 185′, DP-2 crewboats.

2014

Strategic Partnership & Fleet Growth

Laborde Marine takes delivery of a 185′, DP-2 crewboat and a 195′, DP-2 crewboat. Laborde Marine enters into a long-term management contract of two 150′ Mini Supply Vessels.
